Welcome to Olive Tree

Hello, and welcome to my first post on An Olive Tree Grows In Manhattan! In the days to come I hope to start regularly posting about my favorite topic (and possibly yours)--food. From what I'm cooking, to where I'm eating, exciting new recipes, not so exciting new recipes, restaurants to check out and restaurants to avoid, I'll be writing about all my food experiences in the hopes that fellow foodies and home cooks will find something interesting to try out or talk about. Hopefully you'll enjoy what you see as the site develops and we can get some good discussions going in the comments section of each post. If there's anything you'd like to see on the site, or if you'd like a restaurant recommendation, I'd love to hear from you. Thanks for stopping by, and check back soon for updates!

Any suggestions on where to take my mum for dinner when she visits this weekend? Somewhere in the West Village would be ideal but anywhere below 14th street is acceptable. Thanks! :)

Absolutely! I'd suggest Centro Vinoteca. It's not too far from you in the West Village, and Anne Burrell (the chef) makes all the pasta herself, by hand. She used to work with Mario Batali and she's great. And her deserts and pastries are to die for.
